Raising the Bar at Norton Rose, Brisbane

13 March 2013

Norton Rose, Medland Metropolis and Carr Design have set a new global benchmark for legal workplace design at Norton Rose’s new premises at 111 Eagle Street. This four level, 5 Star NABERS fitout, located in Brisbane’s most sought after commercial real estate, represents the highest standard in office accommodation.  It has been submitted for GreenStar certification, with expectations of a 5 Star GreenStar result.  The creative and technically exceptional engineering solutions provided by Medland Metropolis were a key factor in this excellent outcome.

The professionalism and integrity of the Norton Rose Group is underpinned by rich, seamless building services which engender a sense of quality and luxury in the client environment.  Client engagement was critical to the successful outcome of this project. We participated in a series of interactive workshops, engaging a cross section of team members.  Key outcomes of these workshops focused on the equally important objectives of functional and operational efficiency alongside the ‘livability’ and human element of the workplace.

Medland Metropolis designed a lighting system using energy efficient LED fittings, zoning and motion sensitivity, coupled with a fully addressable lighting control system to minimize energy lighting and reduce unnecessary power consumption.  Feature lighting design evokes images of the iconic Brisbane River as it winds its way through the city. The air conditioning system was designed to accommodate an internal staircase over four floors and a Green Wall.

Environmentally Sustainable Design was a top priority. Not only did Medland Metropolis meet the brief, achieving the 5 Star NABERS ratings targeted for the space; this fitout is also anticipated to achieve 5 Star GreenStar Certification for Office Interiors.
