The refurbishment of APRA’s Building X involved the fitout of an existing 4 storey building in Ultimo for APRA/AMCOS, the music licensing agent.

The base building phase of the works involved the complete refurbishment of all levels.

The greatest challenge was maintaining the heritage aspects of the building while providing modern systems for a contemporary client.

To maintain the feature timber bearers and ceilings, a false floor was created to conceal all of the services. This was also used as an air plenum for a displacement type air supply system.

Medland Metropolis designed elaborate control systems, which operate lights, blinds and louvres around the entire building, to best manage daylight, glare and natural ventilation.
