Sea Life Melbourne Aquarium
This $8 million refurbishment features 12 new amazing zones of discovery, including interactive animal encounters and iconic state of the art displays. Medland Metropolis provided full design services for the ‘Sea Life’ Melbourne Aquarium fitout.
Challenges included providing very specific temperature conditions for the sea life including the giant crocodile enclosure.
We were also required to provide suitable solutions for life support systems, of which some used saltwater, some fresh water, and some domestic water.
Early coordination with the tanks and filtration systems design was critical, as the tanks were concrete formed on site and the filtration systems were installed following construction, meaning there was little opportunity to be able to vary the design in the latter parts of the project.
