Situated in the impressive Mirvac Tower at 8 Chifley Square, Corrs Chambers Westgarth’s new Sydney Headquarters features an elegant interior design by Bates Smart with our highly customised engineering package. Medland Metropolis delivered an integrated solution across all services to meet our client’s goals. The new environment represents a departure from the classic cellular offices spaces for Corrs Chambers and a move towards an open plan, with a diversity of private, cellular and communal spaces.
Massive internal voids, interconnecting stair cases and stunning lighting solutions throughout characterise this sophisticated corporate environment. Signalling a change in work practices for Corrs, our services solution accommodates small private meeting rooms fully facilitated with tablet booking systems and waiter call, as well as large open plan work spaces. Multifunction seminar rooms, and a variety of spacious communal areas and lounge facilities contribute to a sense of sophistication. A functions bar, commercial kitchen and indoor/outdoor wintergarden provide excellent facilities for client entertainment and staff amenity.
Significant base building works were required to facilitate the diversity of spaces and our client’s functional needs in each area. We supplemented the existing chilled beam air conditioning system by integrating it with traditional condenser water PAC units so as to ensure that the system could meet the anticipated level of usage. In order to accommodate the client floors, we stripped back all the existing base building services to make way for our customised solution, which accommodated extensive meeting rooms and cellular spaces, as well as multifunction seminar rooms and the commercial kitchen. Medland Metropolis designed supplementary zone control on the air conditioning in certain areas to enable indoor/outdoor spaces to be utilised without tripping door alarms or unnecessarily undermining the energy management of the building system.
