Medland Metropolis were engaged to provide Mechanical and Electrical design services for a new Seaside Museum at Bribie Island.

The Museum was designed with a “beach culture” theme in mind, showcasing local seaside cultural artefacts together with art from the surrounding community.

As the building was raised off the ground, and the Architect’s design intent was to keep the high ceilings clean, a floor displacement system was used to air condition the space. This allows the space to be cooled from the floor upwards. A vented display case was incorporated into the Museum specifically to house marine specimen displays.

The raised ceilings were black in certain areas, which created a challenge to balance daylight while also using feature lighting to showcase specific artwork pieces.

Lighting was designed to wallwash, with feature lighting used for gallery displays.
