Brand Union saw a previously redundant building transformed into a welcoming, innovative and inventive workspace. Medland Metropolis worked closely with BDG Architecture + Design on the creative design to improve access and open up the building to maximise use of lower ground space.

The building was provided as Cat A on the upper 4 floors and in a ‘shell and core’ state on ground and lower ground, having remained unfinished and vacant since the onset of the global financial crisis.  The fitout is set over six floors, covering 30,000 square feet and features a café, meeting rooms, open plan office space and studio areas.

The interior of the lower 2 floors of the building has an industrial theme, with exposed services and structure. Voids were opened up in the ground floor to enable the installation of a grandstand type space and to allow natural light into the basement. Services were reconfigured to allow for separate sublet of each of the upper floors.

Medland Metropolis provided mechanical, electrical (including specialist lighting) and public health engineering services.  The focus was on creating a built environment that both supports and inspires creativity in the workplace.

Brand Union was the winner of the BCO Award: Fitout of Workspace (London & South East 2015)
