Established in 1813, The Benevolent Society (TBS) are one of Australia’s earliest charities.

In 2016, TBS embarked on an ambitious project to refurbish over 100 workplace and retail facilities throughout NSW, including: 87 x Shop fronts, 44 x Small offices, 5 x Hubs.

Medland Engineering were engaged to undertake inspections, conceptual design, standardised and site specific documentation, and construction administration.

The major challenge was the programme. This required a multitude of sites to be inspected, constraints de-risked and designed in parallel. Medland Engineering live and breath agile working and were able to work with the construction team to work around the local site constraints and in a timely manner. Some projects, such as the head office in Glebe, required a collaborative integrated design with the base building engineer. We were able to provide innovative design solutions, agreed by all parties, without diminishing the design requirements of TBS.
