A $23M development of the existing Millennium Institute Sport and Health, at the AUT Millennium Campus, into the National Training Centre for High Performance Sport.

Major features of the expansion which increase the size of the existing facility by an additional 3000sqm, include the creation of a high performance zone within the existing sports hall, a new public health and fitness centre; expanded medical and specialist facilities; expanded office space for staff and tenants; AUT lecture theatres and administrative areas; a 50×25 metre Regional Aquatic Centre – the Owen G Glenn Aquatic Centre (2012) and redevelopment of the car park.

This high performance facilities are due to be completed at the end of 2011, in time to benefit athletes preparing for the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
