GDF SUEZ; Supplier of Electricity and Natural gas. They operate across 5 continents with 219,000 employees.  No.1 independent producer of power in the world and No.2 buyer of natural gas in Europe.

This project, in Aberdeen Scotland,  consisted of the development, construction and fitout of a 5 storey new office and critical operations facility over 54000 sq ft.

Challenges the Medland team faced included ensuring the facility has the incoming and internal power supplies resilience it needs to protect the business critical operations within a locality and construction environment not used to providing these facilities. We had to accommodate the client’s very specific high expectations on finish, detailing, and staff comfort and provide this in two stages, firstly the base build (CAT A) and secondly the fit out stage (CAT B).

All of this was successfully achieved through hands on workshops with the client and then with the MEP contracting team. Regular air flights to site to actively manage the installations and raise the quality standards, direct quality communication with client and contracting team and a thorough inspection and commissioning to provide the quality and system resilience the client deserves.

The GDF Suez project has achieved a BREEAM Rating of Excellent, the highest global standard for sustainability and winner of the BCO Award : Corporate Workspace (Scotland 2015).
