Cirque Apartments is a complex of 88 premium quality apartments over six levels in Richmond, with construction completed in 2013. Medland Metropolis were engaged to provide full services design and documentation, including environmentally sustainable design elements of the project.

The design process for this project focussed strongly on finding solutions that were environmentally conscious, and in turn cost-effective for the tenants. Mechanically, we included an efficient low energy VRF air conditioning system in the design throughout the building.

We designed a solar boosted hot water system into the hydraulic design, the system being linked to rooftop solar panels which provide up to 60% of hot water heating and common area lighting for the complex. Water efficient tapware was also installed in kitchens, bathrooms and laundries, along with water saving cisterns in the bathrooms. Additional environmental hydraulic design includes rainwater tanks which collect stormwater run-off and this water is used for gardens and outdoor area requirements.

Our engagement also included designing services provisions for the ground floor retail tenancies, to include flexibility for food and beverage tenancies.
