‘LIVE the Future’ is the strategy which inspired the Deakin Cube lighting installation, where Medland Metropolis designed the lighting and the cube was designed by Thomson Adsett. The white structure, which is 4m x 4m and suspended 3m off the ground, represents the collective University and the perforations symbolise the personalities of the student body. Concealed LED’s illuminate the structure and offer a striated light spill that cascades across the architecture and through the landscape. This glare free installation is one of several, offering focal points on each of Deakin’s campuses. The cube provides a place for student’s collaboration as well as represents a symbolic meaning that reflects the university’s strategy.
